Digital Radiology

The use of digital radiography has revolutionized intraoral radiology. Instead of film, a sensor is placed in the mouth to record the X-ray. The information is immediately transmitted to a computer, and within a minute we have the image. The amount of radiation the patient is exposed to is reduced by 70%, and poor images are detected and corrected immediately, allowing a more rapid and efficient diagnosis.

Since the pictures are not a solid film, we can alter them to allow various views which enhance the diagnostic value of the radiograph. Note the four views of a single film below.

It is also possible to enlarge the picture and zoom into a specific site.
