Tidbits for Dentists Tooth Shade v. Skin Color
Drs. Jahangiri, Reinhardt, Mehra, and Matheson in their article “Relationship between tooth shade value and skin color: An observational study” compared tooth color and skin shade. No interaction was noted between age, skin color, tooth shade; or gender, skin color, and tooth shade. Older people tended toward darker colors (85% v. 17% for those younger than 31). The most significant finding, however, was a inverse correlation between skin color and tooth color. The darker the skin, the lighter the tooth color.
